|Julie's wish to 'sing my heart out' is what led to the way her album 'Clocks' was recorded, with her voice first captured as she sang away in the splendid setting of Kylemore Abbey. It had to be in a Galway location too, with her songs taking much of their inspiration from genealogical researches into her family. The structures and orchestrations for the 11 songs came along later. As on her previous albums '13 Songs' and 'Pages', Julie composes, arranges, plays and conducts, and elicits the finest performances from her guest musicians and orchestral players.|
“Theatrical on the shell, intricate at the core, Ms. Feeney?s songs don?t shout, they tease, ponder, reminisce, philosophise and invent parables” – Jon Pareles, New York Times
‘Clocks’ went straight to No. 1 in the Independent Irish Album Charts and No. 7 in the main Irish charts on its Irish release in late 2012. It was voted "Best Album" 2012 in The Irish Times "Album of the Year" and was shortlisted for Ireland's most prestigious music award – the Meteor Choice Music Prize – Ireland's Mercury Music Prize equivalent.
